Don't worry...I am not going to do a weekly post all year. I just don't have a catchy title today...or really anything catchy to post about. I have started back to work this week (insert frown face and eye roll here), but I guess the routine is good for us. (??!!)
Here we are New Year's Eve...at like 7:30pm. Because I have not seen the new year roll in since before Emma was born. I just like sleep. And I'm no party animal.
We are watching the Grinch ALL THE TIME. I don't mind...Emma can recite all the lines, and I think it's adorable!
New Year's day, we all went for a long, brisk walk to Southpoint. It takes us about 25 minutes with the stroller. I love doing this - and I was so glad that it as finally cold and dry out. I love a winter walk...the colder, the better!
Unfortunately, I outdid myself and spent the next 3 days in a lot of pain with the pleurisy. The steroids weren't helping, so my sweet hubby made sure to have the doctor call in a different drug. Luckily, my laying low and taking it easy has helped and I haven't had to take the new meds yet. It has been a challenge though - not being able to exert myself very much, not work out, or be active.
Brent, on the other hand, is much better (he had Bronchitis). He's been working out at 5:30am, and I get up and make us breakfast for when he returns. So far, I'm winning wife of the year with homemade french toast and berries, and brown sugar oatmeal (from scratch). I enjoy the time to myself early in the morning, with the house quiet and my coffee. Plus, I just feel more productive for the day. We will see how long this lasts now that we are back working:)
Emma has been super sweet lately. She loves running errands with me, and I know she has loved all the fun things we have done together these past few weeks while I was off. She loves to get a special "chocolate smoothie" at Starbucks. I am really into the cappuccinos lately:)
My friend, Kate, gave me this Amaryllis bulb kit for my birthday, and since I have weirdo cats who might eat this poisonous plant, I took it to work. This sight greeted me when I returned after 2 weeks...it was wonderful!
In case you're wondering, the Nordman Fir is still going strong! I've vacuumed a couple of needles off the floor - probably 20 in total. I know it has to come down, but I just love how cozy it makes our home. I think the goal is Saturday...unless I just don't feel like it. Then, it'll have to wait.
Brent was off yesterday, so we headed to Toast in downtown Durham. There are so many cool places in Durham I need to explore, and it was the perfect cold winter day to get some soup and a panini.
That's our first week of 2016 down! Now, bring on the snow!!!!!!
I'm so sorry you aren't 100% yet! How frustrating for you. If I can do anything, let me know!!!! Rest up!!!
